This study investi gated the adsorption of Cd۲+, Cu۲+ , Ni۲+, and Pb۲+ from a queous sol utions with n ovel nanoparticle sorbe nts (ZnO, and CuO) using a range of experimental approa ches, including, pH, competing ions, conta ct time, s canning electron microscopy (S EM), transm ission elec tron micros copy (TEM),. Tests were performe d under batch conditio ns to determ ine the adsorption rate and uptake at equilibrium from si ngle and mu ltiple component soluti ons. The maximum upta ke values ( sum of four metals) in multiple com ponent sol utions were ۳۶۰.۶, ۱۱۴. ۵ mg g–۱, fo r ZnO, and CuO, respectively. Sorption equilibrium isot herms could be described using the Freundlich model in s ome cases, whereas others isotherm s did not fo llow this model. Furt hermore, a pseudo-sec ond order kinetic model was found to correctly describe the experi mental data for all nanoparticles. So il solution saturation in dices showed that the m ain mechan ism of sorption for Cd ۲+ and Pb۲+ was adsorption whereas both Cu۲+ a nd Ni۲+ sor ption were due adsorptio n and preci pitation.
