Chemic ally modified electrodes for trace analysis have been a subject of researches for decade s due to their advantage of selec tivity coup led with t he sensitivity enhancement of preconc entration. The preconcentration, which has a purely che mical rather than electroc hemical mechanism, can be effected by c ovalent lin kage [۱], io n exchange [۲] or complex formation reactions [۳]. Th erefore, selectivity is determine d by the c hemical reactivity of the electrode modifying age nts rather than the redox potential of the an alyte. Ni (II) is an essenti al metal that occurs at trace co ncentration levels in physiological and environmental systems. However, it's qu ite negative reduction potential, -۱.۲ V vs S CE [۴],and pr opensity to form intermetallic compounds with other metallic species codeposited result in complex, matrix- dependent strippingpatterns not suited fo r quantitation [۵]. Therefo re, develop ment of electrodes with selective analyte co llection pr operties is s eems to be appropriate for trace level analysis of this metal.
