Elucidation of chemo- and regioselectivit y in the alkylation of ۶-methyl uracil usi ng GIAO/۱۳C NMR

Uracil is an interesting heter ocyclic co mpound with few reactive centers which makes its alkylation reactio ns interesting from the v iewpoint of chemo- an d regioselectivity. The aim of this p aper is to demonstrate t he applicatio n of GIAO/۱۳C NMR chemical shif ts for confi rming the expected chem o- and regi oselectivity of the alkyla tion of ۶-m ethyl uracil.
