Coc rystallization of theophylline with carboxylic acids

A pharmaceutical cocrystal is a solid that incorporates tw o neutral molecules, active pharmaceutical ingredient (A PI) and pharmaceutical acceptable molecule, in the crystal lattice [۱]. C ocrystallization is an appropriate strategy f or the improvement of physiochemical prope rties of pharmaceuticall y active molecules while retaining its molecular structure. Crystal engin eering studi es have prev iously been performed on the model pharmace utical comp ound theop hylline to prepare a cocrystal that is physically more stable than theop hylline [۲]. In the presen t work, th e quantum mechanic al calculati ons carried out on t he cocrystals of theop hylline with oxalic acid (A), maloni c (B), malei c (C) and gl utaric acid ( D) in ۱:۱ ratio.
