In this study, polyurethane/titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocomposite coatings have been successfully prepared by effective dispersing the TiO2 nano particles into the polyurethane matrix through an ultrasonication method and dispersmat milling apparatus. Effectiveness of these processes in deagglomeration of TiO2 stacks in polyurethane resin was evaluated by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Surface structure of the nanocomposite coatings was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results revealed that ultrasonication assisted process were superior to milling due to the dispersion quality. Milling process needs more time to reach the same agglomerate size than ultrasonication does. Furthermore, it was observed that, surface structure and morphology of coating could be a relevant factor to compare the nano particle dispersion. The AFM results were completely verified by the optical microscopy and SEM results
