خلاصه مقاله:
New Acute Respiratory Coronavirus Syndrome ۲ is responsible for Covid ۱۹ infection which is transmitted from human to human through respiratory secretions and contact. SARS-CoV-۲ coronavirus infection ranges from asymptomatic through to fatal COVID-۱۹ characterised by a “cytokine storm” and lung failure. Vitamin D deficiency has been postulated as a determinant of severity. Vitamin D treatment has been found to decrease the incidence of viral respiratory tract infection, especially in patients with vitaminD deficiency. The focus of this article is to apply our current understanding of vitamin D as a facilitator of immunocompetence both with regard to innate and adaptive immunity and to consider how this may relate to COVID-۱۹ disease.
