چکیده مقاله:

: BPH is defined as enlargement of the prostate gland in the presence of symptoms of urinary without evidence of malignancy. For patients who have failed medical management, surgical intervention will be done as the treatment. Hemorrhage is one of the most dreadful and serious complications of Prostate surgery. Bleeding can often be significant and lead to increased morbidity and occasionally mortality. If it persists, it may necessitate blood transfusion and can lead to clot retention in the postoperative period. According to the reduction of hemoglobin and hematocrit in Packed Cell, we probe some factors affecting blood transfusion in different types of surgeries (TURP and open prostatectomy were done in our study). In this study, patients who were diagnosed with BPH and underwent surgery in Imam Ali (AS) Educational, Research and Treatment Center for one year were studied.Method: In this study, ۸۷ patients with BPH who underwent surgical intervention (open prostectomy and TURP) for one year have been studied. The percentage of Packed Cell which was transfused was determined and Compared based on other variables. Data were collected, and analyzed by SPSS.Results: The average age of the patients was ۷۱/۳±۹/۵۶. ۲۶.۴% were under ۶۵ years old, ۹۳.۱% underwent TURP surgery, ۷.۷% blood transfusion. ۱۲.۶% had diabetes, ۴۱.۴% high blood pressure, ۱۰.۳% ischemic heart disease, ۱.۱% dyslipidemia and ۳.۴% had hypothyroidism. Preoperative hemoglobin was ۱۳.۱۶ ± ۱.۸۳ and postoperative hemoglobin was ۱۲.۳۳ ± ۲.۱۷, preoperative hematocrit was ۳۸.۶۴ ± ۴.۸۴, and postoperative Conclusion: TURP surgery had the lower rate of blood transfusion compared to open surgery. Patients' age and history of underlying diseases were not significantly related to blood transfusion percentage in these patients. However, the frequency of blood transfusion was higher in patients with hypertension than in other diseases. It is noticeable to say that according to the absence of anemic patients among cases in our study, we did not consider this factor
