In recent years, industries growth, including petroleum industry, has led to the release of various pollutant gases into the atmosphere. Today, emission of air pollutants from petroleum refineries, which mainly contain volatile organic compounds, is very worrying due to its irreversible consequences. Therefore, control and reduce in refinery air pollutants has been considered by many environmentalists. Therefore, the emission of pollutants from the refinery should be further investigated. Among the units in the refinery, the effluent recycling unit has the most pollution in terms of VOC release into the air.The purpose of this study is to calculate the emission rate of VOC from the effluent treatment plant ponds of a typical refinery with ۱۰۰,۰۰۰ barrel per day feed capacity. The calculated total emission of VOC compounds based on emission factors is about ۱۰۵۲.۸ tons per year, which produces a very high level of pollution and endangers the health of employees.
