INVESTIGATIONS TO THE CAUSES OF DAMAGES\FAILURES TO R.C. BUILDINGS

In this paper, post-earthquake damage analyses have been carried out for two r.c. framed buildings, situated in Assam, damaged during the North-East. India Earthquake of August ۶, ۱۹۸۸ and two r.c. structures situated in the state of Bihar, collapsed/ damaged during the August ۲۱, ۱۹۸۸ Bihar-Nepal earthquake. Three dimensional dynamic analyses for the buildings have been carried out to determine their dynamic characteristics and to assetss their per,ormances during the earthquakes. Results of the ana,,ysis clearly identifies the structural deficiencies and the reasons of the actual damages observed in the buildings when subjected to recorded ground motion at the site in the form of spectra.
