A PROPOSED METHOD FOR EARTHQUAKE DISASTER MANAGEMENT

The present note proposes the adoption of setting up of emergency relay centres as determined from historic data. This would enable preparedness in areas with high risk of seismic activity and damage.The authors, together with many researchers, are as yer incapable of proposing a chronology of future seismic events and the corresponding location. That which is possible, is to examine the areas hardest hit and the frequency of occurrence. It is then possible to make provisions for emergencies in such areas. This note proposes a number of flexibly adaptable ideas based on the lessons learnt from the previous disasters.It is hoped that using scientific and historic data together with a check list of action items, a regional parallel chart could be compiled to highlight the plan of rescue action for the potential areas in need of special emergency provisions
