چکیده

Many modern authors have enunciated and probably enlarged the reader's forbearance for a broad diversity of perspectives, particularly, in their selection of points of view of the story. Some authors have also divested the enclosures bordering diverse points of view, in a way that one's perspective merges latently into the following, making their texts a matter of comprehension. Virginia Woolf, a leading figure in the use of stream of consciousness, is among the authors who apply some proper techniques of narration to express ideas. From this perspective, some critics believe that Woolf's use of free indirect discourse gives the characters the chance "to say things to us they 'couldn't say anyhow else, things that needed an effort,' making it 'possible to go much deeper'". Such a narration makes the readers feel ‘sympathy for the characters' inner thoughts, understanding without rejecting or confirming their worlds’. Pertinent to it, this study, which draws the attention of the academics, reviews the notion of narrative technique in Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway, especially the way it serves the purpose of the author in expressing her ideas. In fact, her use of the proper technique of narration is among the major factors she can rely upon to be successful in communicating.
