چکیده مقاله:

Inspired by the spirit of its time, the art of architecture has been the most significant branch of Iranian art since long ago until the middle of the current century. However, the architectural designs of the contemporary era lack innovation, and this art have begun to decline due to mere imitation of western or historical buildings. It is observed that during some of the historical eras such as the first Pahlavi, Iran and western architects used to revive the Iranian soul of some cultural, official, and administrative buildings with complete mastery in a way that not only does seeing their works of architecture manifest the grandeur and glory of ancient Iran, it also promises the emergence of a novel style conforming to the architecture of its era. The building of Iran's national museum is among these prominent examples which are quite similar to the Ctesiphon Palace built during the Sassanid Empire while its modern elements bless the eyes of the spectators as well. The present study seeks to discover the similarities and distinctions between the fundamental components of the museum library and the Ctesiphon Palace so that it can figure out the reasons for such a building's success. The study has employed a descriptive-analytic method and data were collected from field surveys and information available at Iran's national museum, Tehran. Available documents indicate that no similar study has been conducted so far and other studies have sufficed to mention the national museum building.
