چکیده مقاله:
The increasing importance of technology’s role in firms' survival and flourish has gained more and more attention and caused an increasing number of scholars in different fields to conduct their studies based on such an exploration. As one of the top technological trends in today’s world, Blockchain technology has the potential to disrupt and redefine current business routines and logic. The value creation potentials of blockchain technology have attracted many scholars' and practitioners' attention; this led to an increasing number of papers dedicated to exploring blockchain technology and business inter-relationships and vast amounts of investments in blockchain startups. To address how blockchain technology could impact value creation at the business level, this study adopted an inductive multiple case study approach; ۱۳ cases were selected adopting theoretical sampling method. The cases were investigated conducting with-in case analysis, constant comparative analysis, cross-case analysis, and synthesis and thematic analysis methods; we explored potential sources of value creation based on Resource-Based View (RBV) and Transaction Cost Economics (TCE). Our findings revealed two potential sources of value creation: extending access domain and cost reduction potentials; furthermore, we deepened our arguments by providing examples of investigated cases. Our research has theoretical and practical contributions and implications; this study not only apply the current body of RBV and TCE knowledge in a new field, but it also adds conceptually and empirically to the current body of blockchain literature; furthermore, business practitioners could develop their understandings of blockchain triggered opportunities to address their business challenges, make their operation more efficient, and access scarce resources.
