چکیده مقاله:

This paper presents a new mixed-mode I/II fracture criterion to investigate the crack growth in both laminated composites and wood species by considering the absorbed energy in the fracture process zone. The minimum strain energy density theory is extended to investigate the cracked orthotropic materials. This new criterion takes into account the effects of the fracture process zone by defining a suitable damage factor. The present criterion is more compatible with the nature of the failure phenomena in orthotropic materials. Available experimental data are used to validate the proposed mixed-mode I/II fracture criterion. The good coincidence of fracture limit curves and the available experimental data indicates the ability of the newly proposed criterion to predict the crack growth in orthotropic materials
