چکیده

For many years, veneer brick walls have been regarded as an appropriate option for single-family houses. The cavity within the internal timber frame and the external brickwork can be utilized for installing the insulation. Recently, there have been more stringent requirements for the indoor climate and comfort. Hence, to decrease the energy demands through retrofitting wall insulation, it seems necessity to invest in the thermal insulation of walls. Rockwool is an insulation made of molten rock that presents superior acoustic and thermal insulation. This research investigates the role of water-repellent Rockwool as a proper material for cavity wall insulation on reducing the total peak loads of single-family houses. Moreover, the R-value of the thermal resistance and weather properties are taken into account. The results illustrate how householders can reduce their energy costs by filling the cavity of their veneer brick walls with the water-repellent Rockwool
