چکیده مقاله:

In late ۲۰۱۹, a large number of unexplained pneumonia cases were reported in Wuhan, China, and quickly extended to other parts of China, then to other parts of Asia, Europe, and recently to North America. It was renamed by WHO as coronavirus disease ۲۰۱۹ (COVID-۱۹) and announced as pandemic on ۱۱th March ۲۰۲۰. Generally, respiratory symptoms are dominant manifestations in infected patients with COVID-۱۹. However, the involvement of other organs such as the nervous system has also been reported, which elucidates the capability of the virus to induce multi-organ dysfunction. In this regard, the effect of the COVID-۱۹ pandemic on mental health has already been established as including insomnia, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression among healthcare workers and other endangered groups. As of today, there is emerging evidence, which provides support for the susceptibility of nervous system to COVID-۱۹. Undoubtedly, awareness of these findings can result in the timely management and treatment of patients. In the present article, we documented a brief overview of psychiatric manifestations, possible neuroinvasion mechanisms of COVID-۱۹, and the management of mental disorders in infected patients.
