چکیده مقاله:

background and objectives: Hypertension has been introduced as a global public health crisis. By educating, the complications of this disease can be reduced. Consideration of the learning styles of patients is important for education. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of training according to learning styles on blood pressure among hypertensive patients.Materials and Methods: This study was performed on ۴۴ patients with hypertension. Patients were divided into four groups (visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic) based on the results of completing the VARK learning style questionnaire. Educational interventions were performed according to patients' learning style in four sessions. To evaluate the effectiveness of training, patients' blood pressure was measured before and two months after training. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver.۲۱.Findings: After the educational intervention, a statistically significant difference was observed in the mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure of all patients (p<۰.۰۰۱). The mean systolic blood pressure after training compared to before did not show a statistically significant difference only in the aural group (p>۰.۰۵) but this difference was significant in other groups (p<۰.۰۵). In addition, a significant difference was observed in the mean diastolic blood pressure after training compared to before in each of the four groups (p<۰.۰۵).Conclusion: According to the results, self-care training based on learning style caused a significant reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients.
