Objective: There are several factors that affect the marriage relationship regarding couples’ satisfaction. Two main factors could be the security and satisfaction. In Iran, the social and cultural constrictions have limited conducting the research on the marital satisfaction. therefore, is not adequate information on this matter in this area. The present study aimed at examining the level of the related factors that affect the employee’ marital satisfaction at the universities in Abadan, Iran.Method: The present study was conducted through descriptive research which analyzed ۱۷۴ employees’ questionnaires. The participants were married male and female who were selected through convenience (available) sampling method. The participants filled in the Enrich marital satisfaction questionnaire and another social and family information questionnaire. Data were analyzed through SPSS software, version ۱۹. Descriptive statistics, Mann–Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson correlation coefficient. Correlation coefficient were used to analyze data.Results: Findings showed that the average age of the participants were ۳۷±۷.۶ and most of them had BA diploma (۳۸.۳%). The highest marital satisfaction belonged to the medical university employees (۷۵.۷۳%) and the participants in Payam-e-noor and Islamic Azad University were in the lower ranks. There was a positive and meaningful correlation between the number of yearly vacation, having private house, blood relations, and level of education with their marital satisfaction. There was a negative and meaningful correlation between the employees age, the time of marriage, and the year of involvement with their marriage satisfaction.Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that the level of employees’ marriage satisfaction in Abadan Universities was low. Thus it is suggested that university officials design the appropriate programs based on Enrich marital satisfaction which enables the couples to keep their family safe and secure.
