چکیده مقاله:
Excessive carbon dioxide production, greenhouse gas effect, and global warming due to growing industrial utilization of fossil fuels, have motivated, governments, industries, and researchers toward alternative, renewable, and clean energy sources. Hydrogen has emerged as an ideal clean energy carrier with zero environmental footprint. Optimal hydrogen production requires selective hydrogen removal during the reaction which shifts the reaction equilibrium toward more hydrogen production. Selective hydrogen removal during the reaction can be achieve by membrane reactors, In this review, the most important membrane reactor configurations namely axial flow shell and tube membrane reactors, radial-flow tubular membrane reactor, and axial-flow spherical membrane reactors with palladium-membrane for hydrogen production are discussed and their performance is explained.
