This study was an attempt to find out about the effect of Interlex and WordbankerVocabulary Learning softwares on Iranian EFL learners’ vocabulary learning. Nelsonvocabulary proficiency test was administered to ۱۸۰ participants who were alreadystudying at intermediate level. Using the results of the homogeneity test ۱۳۵ languagelearners, who fell one standard deviation above and below the mean were selected for thepurpose of the study. Nelson vocabulary proficiency questionnaire was administered tothese participants. Based on the results, ۳ groups were defined for the study (i.e. Interlexexperimental group, Wordbanker experimental and control group each with ۴۵participants). Before the treatment, the Nelson test was administered, and based on theresults the words which the learners were not familiar with were selected. Theparticipants in the experimental groups were allowed to select ۱۰ words each session.Through the ۱۲ sessions of the study, both Interlex and Wordbanker learners' classeswere conducted in the language laboratory. After analyzing the results of the study basedon one way ANOVA it was revealed that the used softwares did not have any significanteffect on the students` vocabulary learning. This study has pedagogical implications forlanguage learners, language teachers, material developers on CALL.
