Background and Aim: The ACE gene at chromosome ۱۷q۲۳.۳ has an Insertion / Deletion functional polymorphism. Frequency of cases with DD genotype is higher than ID and II genotypes. Recently, the association of ACE I / D polymorphisms with the pathogenesis and progression of human cancers has been explored. In this study, the possible association of this gene with glioblastoma carcinoma was investigated. Methods: This case-control study was performed on ۳۰ patients with glioblastoma. ACE I / D polymorphism was detected by Gap-PCR. The PCR products were isolated by electrophoresis on ۲% agarose gel. The Insertion allele (I) was found in the ۴۷۸ bp band and the Deletion allele (D) in the ۱۹۱ bp band. Results: It was estimated that the absence of ID genotype was significantly related to the probability of glioblastoma. Also, high level of DD genotype in the patient group made the hypothesis of its significance acceptable. Overall, it can be concluded that ACE activity was significantly different between normal and patient groups (p <۰.۰۵).Conclusion: Despite the limitations in the number of studied samples, the necessity of a larger study on the relationship between the prevalence of glioblastoma with the angiotensin converting enzyme gene polymorphism was identified at a larger scale. As a result, it will be possible to fully cure the early stages of the disease and to preserve the human capital of human societies, which is rightly one of the most important spiritual resources of societies.
