Mental health status in nurses of Bandar Abbas hospital

Background: The health of nurses as care providers affects the quality of care providedby them to patients.The aim of this study was to investigate some aspects of nurses' mentalhealth status.Material and Methods: In this descriptive cross - sectional study, 200 nurses (95 malesand 105 females) were surveyed by multistage sampling method. Data collection toolswere demographic questionnaire and questionnaire. Mental health 28 general healthquestions with Likert scoring method.Results: 14% of nurses had some degree of mental health disorder. The prevalence of thedisorder was higher in women than men. Also, the mean scores of nurses on the scale ofsocial dysfunction were higher than other cases. There was a statistically significantrelationship between the prevalence of suspected cases of mental disorder and variablesof gender, marriage, overtime, and work history.Conclusions: The study of the mental health status of nurses provides valuableinformation in the field of prevention planning at various levels, continuing education,periodic examinations of employees, treatment and prevention of mental disorders inpolicy makers, planners and managers of health systems in the country.
