A review of the role of traditional and herbal medicine in the COVID-19 epidemic

Background: The World Health Organization welcomes countries' experience in treatingCOVID-19 with traditional medicine. For this reason, it is working with some institutionsto select traditional drugs after clinical trials if they are effective. This article was writtento investigate the role of traditional and herbal medicine in the treatment of coronavirus.Material and Methods: This is a systematic review study. Keywords traditionalmedicine, herbal medicine with Covid 19 and English words Covid 19, traditionalMedicine, Herbal Medicine Search the database, PubMed, google scholar and Scopus.First, related topics were selected, then abstracts of study articles, and finally 32 articleswere entered into the research.Results: Traditional medicine treatment consists of two parts. The first part is gettingaway from polluted environments, observing quarantine and And lifestyle modification,improving nutrition (reducing the volume of food, prohibiting the consumption of bulkyfoods), exercise (with breathing techniques such as Yoga), avoidance of stress andadequate sleep at night (between 8 and 15 hours, no sleep in the afternoon) isrecommended. The second part, consumption Fruits and vegetables such as asparagus,garlic, ginger, ginseng and incense plants such as sandalwood and roses that boost theimmune system Strengthen and improve the function of vital organs.Conclusions: Traditional and herbal medicine along with modern medicine can beeffective in treating COVID-19.
