Synthesis of new cyclophanes besed on calix[4]arene

Calixarenes are well-known as one of the versatile and useful building blocks in supramolecular chemistry.1 Several calixarene-based cavitands (capped and functional calixarenes) have been reported in the literature by using click chemistry methodology through the Cu(I)-catalyzed ligation of adequate bis-alkyne and bis-azide derivatives.2 Herein, we report the synthesis of a capped calixarene by copper catalyzed azide-alkyne click reaction. As shown in Scheme 1, calix[4]arene 6 was synthesized in 3 steps. At each step, we confirmed the product with 1H-NMR and the resulting calixarene were characterized by 1H-NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
