چکیده

In this study, a review of research in the field of COVID-19 and its effects on the economy and financial markets of emerging markets, specifically Tehran Stock Exchange has been conducted. This study provides a brief overview of the latest findings on the economic impact(s) of the COVID-19. Most of the research results indicate the negative effects of COVID-19 on all economic sectors, at least in the short term. Financial markets, regardless of whether they are developing or developed, also experienced a sharp decline in value since March 11, 2020, when the World Health Organization declared a global emergency. Most researchers’ findings also point to the importance of decisions made by governments and central banks in the period of a pandemic. The positive effect of social isolation on long-term economic recovery has also been mentioned by some research.
