چکیده مقاله:

Electronic prescribing improves the quality of care and facilitates health care services by reducing hospital errors and integrating physicians' orders. In this study, researchers investigate the effect of e-prescribing on reducing nursing medication errors and increasing the quality of care from a nursing perspective. The findings of this article, based on current knowledge, increase patient satisfaction by minimizing hospital errors. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in February 2020 in Scholar, Pub Med Google databases without a time limit. Depending on the type of study, researchers searched in English by researchers; the most relevant articles were used in terms of similarity to the study's subject. Keywords such as Electronic Prescription, Nursing, Medication Errors were also used. The English articles were first selected in terms of the closeness of the title to the topic, and then the content of each was observed by the researchers. The materials related to the study's subject were used in the study if they were new and new. Attempts have been made to avoid repetitive discussions. Results: The titles of 21 articles were reviewed, and nine articles were included in the study. The articles were related to Spain, Ireland, the USA, Australia, and Sweden. All articles show a significant difference between the error rate before and after implementing the electronic prescription system. (In a study, the error rate in manual prescription was 14.4%, the error rate in electronic prescription was 1.3%). The rate of medication error in the period of registration of nursing reports (NOE) was 40% less than the period of registration of physician orders (POE). The effect of an electronic prescription system on pharmaceutical processes and the reduction of errors were evident. Conclusion: Information technology and electronic prescribing systems are a useful tool for patients' medication management and reduce nurses and medical staff's medication errors. Electronic prescribing advantages are eliminating some errors (patient identification error, treatment date, doctor's signature), and the ease of the treatment staff.
