چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Along with improving the health status of communities, the need to improve nursing is essential due to the importance of the role of the nurse in quality care. Since education and research play an important role in promoting nursing students' knowledge and attitude, paying attention to the content of their courses is also an important priority. One of the courses in this field is a Lesson called information technology in nursing. Although formed to advance nurses in this field, it can improve it compared to Important universities. Therefore, the present study was conducted to compare the nursing information technology course in Iran and the United States. Methods: This study is part of a more extensive descriptive-comparative study that examines the latest undergraduate nursing curriculum from the Department of Health and Medical Education website and Widener University, USA, and searches for articles from PubMed, Wiley, Science Direct, Web of Science. SID was performed using thekeywords curriculum, nursing bachelor, nursing education, information technology in nursing in an irregular period (2019). 2 reference sites and 17 articles were included in the study after the initial review and then deeper by two researchers with inclusion and appropriateness criteria for further study. Finally, the analysis was performed usingBereday’s four-stage model: description, interpretation, juxtaposition, and comparison. Results: In our country, this course is a theoretical and semi-practical unit to familiarize students with medical databases and libraries, search methods for articles on the Internet, computer use in accessing nursing resources, reporting and recording patient information and applications software that can be offered at any time during the course without the need for a prerequisite course. At Widener University, the USA, this course entitled Informatics Fundamentals as a Theory Unit in the Fifth Semester prepares students to provide safe and quality patient care, clinical decision making, patient education, and clinical information management using technology effectively. Conclusion: Although there is a minimal difference in the number of units in the two countries, a functional unit in our country and theory is an exact point in learning this course. One of the differences that may not be a strength for our country is the greater focus on patient care and its presentation in higher semesters where students are better prepared to care for patients and become familiar with diseases at the University of the United States. Therefore, educational planners, considering their strengths and weaknesses, can provide better lessons and learn for more nursing students.
