Paper for the golestan flood seminar: 15-16 january 2003 post flood recovery in golestan: an approach through watershed management

On Friday 10 august 2001 , torrential rains triggered flash floods in the golestan khorasan and semnan provinces of iran . The floods were the worst in 200 years killing 247 people injuring a further 200 and made 10000 homeless. Following an initial response UNDP lead an inter agency mission to assist the goverment of the islamic republic of iran to formulate a strategy and framework for post flood recovery and rehabilitation.
