Knowledge and attitude of female students, parents and school officials toward puberty in Larstan- 2015

چکیده مقاله:

Background: Adolescence is one of the most sensitive and critical parts of human life. The most important change in adolescence is maturing. This study aimed to assess knowledge and attitudes about puberty in girls, Parent and teachers was accomplished in Larestan city.Method: This study is Cross-sectional one. 116 students in third grade primary school, 137 parents and 13 officials and teachers were randomly selected and self-made questionnaire was used for collecting data. Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman and SPSS version 22 were used to analyze the data.Finding: Attitude in urban students was significantly higher than that of parents and school officials (p<0.001) and the rural students compared to urban students had the higher knowledge, significantly (p=0.012). A significant inverse correlation was observed between knowledge and attitude (p<0.001) as it can be said that attitude was reduced by raising knowledge.Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the knowledge and attitude of the participants, especially in young girls, was less than average. So a systematic and purposeful maturity planning is emphasized, for young girls, their parents, especially mothers and school administrators.
