In This paper, the Gurson–Tvergaard–Needleman (GTN) damage model was used to analyse ductile fracture in spiral gas pipeline steels of API X65 and X70. Experimental data and FE analysis were used to model flat fracture in smooth tensile bars. The calibrated computer model from tensile tests was used then to simulate flat fracture in compact tension C(T) specimens (with different geometry and loading conditions), made from the same steels. The obtained results showed good agreement between test data and GTN damage model.
