Comparison of Energy Gain of a Solar Collector under Different Conditions of Optimum Slope Angle Using Genetic Algorithm

چکیده

In this paper, genetic algorithm is applied to calculate the optimum slope and surface azimuth angles of solar collectors for receiving maximum solar radiation. An area of Iran with known solar radiation components is selected to verify the results of this algorithm. At first, the optimum angels are calculated in different days, months, seasons and the whole year. Then, for one day in each month, the hourly optimum angles are calculated and the received energy at these angles is compared with monthly, seasonally and yearly optimum angles. The results showed that the optimum azimuth angle is zero for receiving maximum solar energy. Furthermore, maximum solar energy in different days of a year is received at different slope angels and adjusting the collector at the daily optimum slope angle can only save energy very little compared with the case at which the collector is adjusted at the monthlyoptimum slope angle. However, the gain of energy is almost the same for the daily and monthly optimumangles. Moreover, the hourly optimum surface azimuth angle is not equal to zero. Furthermore, adjusting a solar tracker at hourly optimum slope and azimuth angles can save energy considerably compared with the case when the collector is adjusted at daily optimum angles. It is worth mentioning that genetic algorithm is more effective when the independent parameters are numerous and in this case, the optimum angles are easily determined and the computation time is reduced.
