چکیده مقاله:

This study aims to find out the extent to which of these two various ways would affect Iranian EFL learners’ oral performance improvement. The participants of this study were learners from Safir institute in Tehran, Iran with the range of 20 to 25 years old. There were 80 learners in elementary level who were given a PET as the homogenization test. Next, 60 participants were selected with respect to their proficiency level. Then, the researcher divided them into three groups. One control group and two experimental groups; i.e. experimental 1 (E1) and experimental 2 (E2); each group included 20 participants. Finally, at the end of instruction, all of the subjects in experimental and control groups were post-tested through speaking proficiency test. In order to adjust the post-test scores for any pre-test differences, one-way ANOVA was used to screen the unwanted effects out of the outcome measure. The result of the study revealed that Narrative audio clip listening instruction is effective on improving the students’ oral performance. In terms of speaking proficiency, the results revealed significant improvement at the end of the experiment, indicating that teaching through listening strategies can have a positive effect on students’ speaking proficiency and oral performance.
