In this paper, the free vibration of the sandwich beams with functionally graded face sheets based on the high order sandwich beam theory is investigated. The properties of the FGM material are varied gradually by a power law rule across the thickness. Displacement fields of the face sheets are modelled by a first order shear deformation theory, and of the core are modelled by polynomial patterns. Governing equations of the motion are obtained based on the Hamilton’s principle and solved by a Galerkin method. A reduced method is used to reduce the number of the equations. Boundary conditions are simply supported and clamped. The effect of the power law index and geometrical variations on the frequency for different sandwich beams are surveyed in some numerical example. To verify the results of this study, they compared with special cases of the literatures.
