The present study set out to explore the relationship among oral communication strategies, identity processing style andself-regulation strategies. The initial participants of this study consisted of 150 female and male EFL learners betweenthe age of 19 to 40 who were selected via convenience sampling among those who were studying English Translation atBA level at Islamic Azad University. To select a homogeneous sample of learners Oxford Placement Test (OPT) wasadministered to the initial 150 learners and 115 participants who scored within the range (28-36) in congruence with theintermediate level of proficiency were selected. Following that the three questionnaires including Oral CommunicationStrategy Inventory (OCSI) [1], Self-Regulation Questionnaire [2] the Identity Style Inventory developed by Berzonskyet al. [3] were distributed among the selected participants. Having collected the three completed questionnaires, theresearchers set off on data analysis to answer the research questions The results of parametric test of Pearson correlationcoefficient indicated that there was a statistically positive and significant relationship between EFL learners’ selfregulationand their use of oral communication strategies. Moreover, it was found that there was a statistically positiveand significant relationship between EFL learners’ identity processing style and their use of oral communicationstrategies. Likewise, there was a statistically positive and significant relationship between EFL learners’ self-regulationand identity processing style.
