Rotating disks have a wide range of applications as energy storage devices and for gyroscopic control of ships, submarines, aircrafts, rockets, and missiles. Also rotating disks have engineering applications such as high-speed gears and turbine rotor. Minimizing the weight of such components can help reduce the overall payload in aerospace industry. The First shear deformation plate theory and classical nonlinear von Karman plate theory is used to analyze analytically displacements and stresses in functionally graded (FG) in rotating hollow disk, axisymmetric large deflection bending of a functionally graded circular plate is investigated under mechanical, thermal and combined thermal–mechanical loadings. The mechanical and thermal properties of functionally graded material (FGM) are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness of the plate, and obey a simple power law of the volume fraction of the constituents. Equilibrium equations for the problem are derived, and then a perturbation technique is employed to numerically solve the equations. The time dependent temperature, radial displacement, radial stress, and hoop stress are obtained and plotted. The results are verified with simulink method.
