Ni MOF based electrode materials for the determination of dopamine in the presence of uric acid

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have obtained increasing attention as a kind of novel electrode materials. They show excellently electrochemical performance, which is attributed not only to the favorable paths for charge transport due to the presence of free pores and the increased specific surface area of the material. A carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with Ni MOF nanoplates (NiMOF/CPE) was constructed. Subsequently, the electrochemical oxidation of dopamine on fabricated NiMOF/CPE was studied. Experimental results confirm that under optimized conditions, the maximum oxidation current of dopamine occurs at 6757 mV in the case of NiMOF/CPE that is around 17757 mV more negative than that observed in the case of the unmodified CPE and about 557 times increase was observed for the oxidation peak current. The analytical approach was obtained by differential pulse voltammetry in accordance with the relationship between the oxidation peak current and the dopamine concentration. The oxidation peak currents for dopamine were found to vary linearly with its concentrations in the range of 7×17-4–757×17-1 M with the detection limit of 157×17-4 M. We detected two completely separate signals for the oxidation of dopamine and uric acid at the surface of NiMOF/CPE. The presence of dopamine was also detected in real samples using the introduced approach
