Trend of catch and catch per unit of effort Acipenser nndiventris in the Iran during 2009-2012

In this study, catch rate and catch per unit of effort of Acipenser nndiventris werereviewed in three Northern provinces during the years 2009 to 2012. All datacollected from landings and estimate catch per unit effort (CPUE) based on boat, dayand hundreds of nets. The results show a sharp decrease in catch rates during theyears 2009 to 2012 by about 70.5 percent. In 2012, 76 percent of the total fish catchis the requirement in the province. In 2009, the CPUE was 0.015 kg per effort thatdropped to 0.006 kg per effort. The highest value of CPUE was 0.016 kg per effortin the eastern province (Golestan) in 2012. Major stocks of sturgeon is dependent onthe production and release of fingerlings. Decrees of production and release of fishin the past few years, did not show a bright future for rebuilding fish stocks. Integratedplan for conservation of sturgeon to provide conditions for natural reproduction,artificial and release of fingerlings and administrative cooperation and researchactivities of all the countries around the Caspian Sea are important to recover andmaintain their stocks.
