چکیده مقاله:

This scientific institution was also called Khazanah Al-Hekmah and it was established during Harun Al-Rashid’s caliphate period in Baghdad between 787 and 809 and it reached the peak of its magnificence and glory and splendor during the caliphate of Harun’s son, Ma’amun. Bayt Al-Hekmah was the primary center for the expression and rendering of the foreign books into Arabic language. And, in fact, it was enumerated amongst the most original centers of the Iranian and Greek scientists and scholars’ gathering in such a way that the officials and administrators were Iranian in the majority of the cases and this had caused the compilation of some parts of the Iranian books and resources and their translations in the same institute. It can be actually stated that Bayt Al-Hekma was the main source of keeping and collecting the books during Abbasid era. Amongst the elders who were working in this institute, Abu Sahl Fazl Ibn Nobakht and Maserjis Clan, Bakhtishu’e Family, Ibn Moqaffa’a, Nobakht Family, Abu Zakariyya and Yuhanna Ibn Masuyeh and Jalil and Honain Family can be pointed out. According to historians, this cultural and scientific institution has been working till the raid of Mongols at Baghdad.
