چکیده مقاله:

Background: Cancer is one of the most important health challenges in modern societies. There are various ways to treatment of cancer types such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery and etc. One of the effective treatments is magnetic hyperthermia (MHT) usingelectromagnetic waves in the presence of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). In this method,MNPs reach 42-45 C by exposure to alternating magnetic field (AMF) causing cancer cells todie. Heat not only kills cancer cells but also sensitizes them to increase the effectiveness ofchemotherapy and radiotherapy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of MHTusing Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the treatment of cancersMaterial and methods: The index terms of Magnetic Hyperthermia , Fe3O4nanoparticles , cancer treatment and radiation therapy were entered into scientificdatabases of PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct and Google scholar and about 10 full relevantarticles were extracted and reviewed. Finally the effect of using Fe3O4 nanoparticles in thetreatment of cancer were evaluatedResults: Studies have shown that MHT alone or in combination with other therapies cansignificantly increase the response to treatment. The effect of MHT depends on severalfactors, including the size and concentration of the nanoparticles, and the frequency andintensity of the AMF. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a size of 25-30 nm were reported toshow a significant increase in specific power absorption (SPA). Cell death in MHT in vitroand in vivo reported to 52% and 32.8% respectively. Also, hyperthermia combined withradiation therapy increased the overall response by approximately 50%. In addition, hyperthermia has exaggerated the pharmacological effect of chemotherapy and achieved acell growth inhibition rate of 85%Conclusions: According to a review of studies, it was concluded that MHT can be used as aneffective therapeutic approach using Fe3O4 anoparticles. In addition, MHT along with othertherapies can significantly increas
