چکیده

In recent years, quick retrieval of data and effective huge data management are main issues. Presenting maximum data availability and providing fault tolerant data access in the large-scale distributed environments are challenging tasks since they scale over various geographical areas. Therefore, data replication is a suitable technique to handle these challenges. This paper aims to study the current strategies of data replication in the distributed systems and to investigate their advantages and shortcomings. The study also focuses on different parameters and metrics for data replication in cloud and grid environments that tends to analyze the efficacy of available algorithms. Response time, availability, performance and scalability are some of the main parameters that are used here for investigation. Then, we propose a new guideline and open issues in the field of data replication as the future research areas.
