Selecting an appropriate project management methodology for a project-based organization

The position of the title in this section is 120 mm from the top of the page or upper edge. Project management methodology is a good tool for launching and executing projects successfully in project-based organizations. Nowadays, organizations usually use customized methodologies that are based on global credible methodologies. Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, with its specific features, is a unique project-based organization, and according to its diverse projects, it needs a specific methodology to advance its projects. In this research first three credible methodologies as well as agile project management approach are analyzed and advantages and disadvantages are detected. Then, using agile project management approach for the organization is examined. It is observed that agile project management approach is not applicable for this organization. Finally, according to the organization s features, PRINCE2, a proper process-based methodology is suggested.
