چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Burns are one of the common traumas. Centella asiatica, an herb that improves wound healing. in this study, the effectiveness of Centiderm in comparison with Nitrofurantoin cream in patients with gradeIII burns has been evaluated Methods : This is a double-blind clinical trial. 28 patients were evaluated in each group. Inclusion criteria were third degree burns, less than 25% TBSA, burns less than 1% at third degree burn, burn in organs, less than 48 hours after burning, absence of other injuries, age from 18 to 60. Exclusion criteria were: the presence of any cerebrovascular, cardiovascular disease. Burns were prescribed 3 times a day for patients. All wounds were examined using objective indicators of Vancouver scar scale and visual acuity criteria. subjective criteria were performed on days 0, 3, 7 and 14. The ethical issues were approved by GUMS. Data were analyzed using SPSS software using General Linear Model and Repeated Measure, Student s T-Test and independent T-test. Data were analyzed with mean±standard deviation and meaningful level was considered as P value<0.05. Results : Among 78 participants, 62 entered the study. Of these, 33 patients were treated with traditional dermal treatment and 29 patients recieved Nitrofurantoin. The mean age was 39.65±9.65 years. 38 were male (66.7%) and 19 were female (33.3%). All objective criteria, except for flexibility and pliability, itching, significantly improved the wound both in time and performance in the group treated with traditional dermal pain compared to the group with Nitrofurantoin. However, there was no significant difference between the flexural and pruritus indices in comparison with the control group over time (P=0.595 and P=0.644). In this study, the most important indicator of the percentage of wound healing in the intervention group was better in terms of both time and efficacy than the control group (P< 0.001). No infection was seen in the traditional dermal treatment group during the trial. Conclusion : based on antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, laboratory and in-vitro studies of wound healing, use of Centiderm within 48 hours of burn injury improved most of the objective and subjective indicators, and the percentage of wound healing than the group treated with Nitrofurantoin without infection.
