چکیده مقاله:
Pollutants’ harmful effects on human health are among the main reasons of extensive efforts in recent years in order to reduce and control air pollution. The tendency towards clean air and less dependency on oil resources, interest in alternative fuels in transportation industry and technologies of reducing air pollution have been mentioned in recent years. Simulating catalytic converters of vehicle exhaust system and emissions analysis have been done in this study. Firstly, combustion chamber and catalyst are modeled in Solid works and then they are analyzed in ANSYS CFX powerful software. Firstly, the combustion process is simulated by Stoichiometric ratio of 14.7:1 and considering gasoline for Peugeot Pars engine with cylinder and piston diameter of (84.1 × 83) mm in order to achieve our aim; output values of simulation are considered as input for porous catalyst. Mass flow that enters the combustion chamber is equal to 0.018kg/s and the temperature of air that enters cylinder is slightly above ambient temperature and gas velocity that enters catalytic converter is considered 22 meters per second. Catalytic converters are designed with features of (100 × 275) mm length and diameter and full array of rhodium, platinum and palladium noble metals. The internal geometry of catalytic converter is taken from three mentioned metals; Navier-Stokes modified equation and Tdyn motion equations and turbulence model of k-ε are used in order to study current model. The study results show that optimal design of catalyst inner surface reduces significantly the vehicle exhaust emissions
