Enzymatic hydrolysis of corn fiber in membrane bioreactor: Comparison of pretreated dilute acid and soaking in aqueous ammonia SAA methods

Enzymatic hydrolysis of corn fiber was performed in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) incorporating a 10 KDa flat sheet polyethersulfone membrane. Twopretreatment methods of dilute acid and soaking in aqueous ammonia (SAA) were applied followed by simultaneous enzymatic carbohydrate (cellulose and starch)hydrolysis. Enzymatic hydrolysis of the pretreated substrate was carried out at different substrate concentrations by the twopretreatment methods. It was observed thatthe highest yield of 85% for the reducing sugar was occurred at the smallest amount of initial substrate loading concentration of20 g/L and for dilutes acid pretreated corn fiber.
