The removal of nitrite from aqueous solution using expanded perlite as an adsorbent

The contamination of surface and ground water by pollutants is an important problem that the scientists are dealing with over the years [1]. In this work, the removal of nitrite by expanded perlite (EP) as a cheap adsorbent was studied. The effect of amount of EP, initial concentration of nitrite, pH and temperature on adsorption was studied over 90 min adsorption periods. It was found that nitrite as a pollutant of environment could be removed from aqueous solution better in higher initial concentration and higher amount of adsorbent by adsorption onto the EP.
