The impact of oil maritime transport growth on economic growth in Iran

Transportation as an effective factor on economic spender via displacing cargo and passengers, paves the way for national facilities and welfare. So it plays a very important and effective role on the process of economic growth, meanwhile, it is influenced by the process of economic growth itself. This unit comprises those activities which are widely in progress in all of the fields of production, distribution and consumption of commodity, and it plays an undeniable role in economic activities. The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of growth in transportation unit on the country's economic growth using periodical series data between 1996-2012 . The model used in this survey, is a production function of Cobb – Douglas, that for estimation of which GMM method has been used. For experimental examination of the model, the stability of variables was studied at first, and then sum total among the variables was considered. The results of the estimation of the model demonstrated that the action of economic growth vs. the growth in transportation unit in Iran's economy is positive and significant. By considering the advised results, it is advised to increase the investment in transportation infrastructure.
