Weak Points Identification of HL2 Systems Using Contingency Analysis

In this paper the main work is to carry out contingency screening using new security related index for single line outage states. Modified IEEE 30-bus system is used as a HL2 system to consider both generation and transmission aspects. Severity index (SI) is introduced as new contingency screening technique. Line importance factor (LIF), voltage impact factor (kv), the line capacity ratio and state probability are used to form the severity index and selection of contingency states. This work provides information for further investigation on power system security analysis fields such as reliability analysis. Results show that by applying this method the amount of calculation will be decreased considerably for further studies and analysis
